Detailed property information now just a click away

Whether you want to know what you can do with a property you own or intend to buy, or are in the development business, getting access to general property information is now as easy as waking up your closest electronic gadget.

Sunshine Coast Planning Portfolio Councillor Christian Dickson said the new Development Information Report was a demonstration of council’s commitment to continually improve its online services to the community.

“This online development information tool makes it easy and convenient to access general town planning information for individual properties,” Cr Dickson said.

“Once you enter the property address, a Development Information Report is automatically generated containing planning scheme information, interactive maps and other site information.”

Cr Dickson said the online Development Information Report would benefit both the public and the development industry.

“Real estate agents and potential land purchasers will now be able to quickly understand the general planning provisions that apply to a particular property, such as height and zoning,” he said.

“Private building certifiers can use the online tool to check planning and overlay provisions, and development consultants will have convenient access to information when advising clients and compiling development applications to council.

“One of the most innovative aspects of the Development Information Report is that it is device-responsive, so it can be used on desktop computers, tablets and smart phones.

“Being able to access information while in your office, at home or on-site makes the Development Information Report a highly flexible tool—useful for making a quick review of a property through to more detailed onsite meetings,” Cr Dickson said.

“Council’s planning scheme and mapping systems are comprehensive and multi-layered and can be quite complex to navigate.

“The Development Information Report provides quick and easy access to relevant information—so it is now easier to make those important investment decisions.

“Our development information call centre responds to about 120 inquiries each day, with more than half of these calls about general zoning.

“The Development Information Report extends access to zoning information beyond council’s regular business hours, so council’s customers can have their queries answered at a time that is convenient to them.”

The report is not intended to replace the need for carrying out a detailed assessment of council and state controls or the need to seek professional advice on any town planning laws and other controls that may affect the existing or intended use of a site.
