Council invites avid readers to join internationally acclaimed author Judy Nunn at The Events Centre, Caloundra from 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday, November 8.
Judy is a household name in Australian culture thanks to her long and multifaceted career.
After combining her internationally successful acting career with scriptwriting for television and radio, Judy became an author in the 90s.
Her first three novels, The Glitter Game, Centre Stage and Araluen, became instant bestsellers.
She has since developed a love of writing Australian historically-based fiction and her fame as a novelist has seen more than one million books sold and published in numerous languages worldwide.
Judy’s subsequent bestsellers, Kal, Beneath the Southern Cross, Territory, Pacific, Heritage, Floodtide, Maralinga, Tiger Men, Elianne and Spirits of the Ghan, confirm her position as one of Australia’s leading fiction writers.
In 2015, Judy was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her "significant service to the performing arts as a scriptwriter and actor of stage and screen, and to literature as an author".
Judy will discuss her new fiction release, Sanctuary, a compelling novel in which compassion meets bigotry, hatred meets love and ultimately, despair meets hope on the windswept shores of Australia.
The book is set on a barren island off the coast of Western Australia, where a rickety wooden dinghy runs aground.
Aboard are nine people who have no idea where they are.
Strangers before the violent storm that tore their vessel apart, the instinct to survive has seen them bond during their days adrift on a vast and merciless ocean.
Sanctuary will resonate with readers and fans of Australian fiction.
With her trademark stage presence and exceptional storytelling skills, Judy will explore themes of love, hope and survival.
Special guest MC is popular radio personality and column writer Sami Muirhead.
This special literary event is part of a series of Sunshine Coast Libraries author talks hosted at various locations across the region.
Judy’s books will be available for purchase at the venue.
Tickets are $25 per person and bookings are a must via council’s library website.
