Some Council services will see changes to their operating hours and others are taking a well-deserved break during the upcoming Easter long weekend.

Bin collection

Sunshine Coast Council’s waste and recycling roadside collection will continue to be collected from your house as per usual. If you’re visiting the tip, opening hours of Council’s resource recovery centres and transfer stations will remain the same. Recycle markets will be closed on Good Friday.

Customer Service

The customer service email and SMS services will close from Good Friday, March 29 and re-open at 8.30am on Tuesday, April 2. After hours emails will be monitored for urgent matters.

Non-urgent matters can be logged any time via Council’s online portal MyCouncil. The portal allows you to do online business with Council at your convenience.

For those seeking help, Council’s after-hours emergency call centre will operate 24-hours a day via the customer service phone number 5475 7272.

Council service counters and reception desks at Sunshine Coast City Hall in Maroochydore, Nambour and Caloundra will close from Good Friday, March 29 and re-open from 8.30am on Tuesday, April 2.

The Development Information counter at Sunshine Coast City Hall will close from Good Friday, March 29 and re-open from 8.30am on Tuesday, April 2.

Libraries

Sunshine Coast Libraries will be closed from Friday, March 29 and reopen Tuesday, April 2. Council’s eLibrary is accessible 365 days a year and has thousands of online resources for the whole family.

The Sunshine Coast Mobile Library service will be closed from Good Friday, March 29 and resume on Tuesday, April 2.

Lifeguards

Professional lifeguards patrol major beach locations Monday to Friday and a number of other beaches on weekends, throughout the year. To check local patrol times head to www.beachsafe.org.au and search for your favourite beach.

Pools

Council Aquatic Centres will be closed on Good Friday. Residents are encouraged to check their local pool’s webpage or social media page for opening hours across the Easter Long Weekend.

Museums, Galleries and Gardens

Bankfoot House will be closed over Easter from Good Friday, March 29 and re-open on Tuesday, April 2.

Landsborough Museum will be closed from Wednesday, 27 March until Thursday, 4 April for public holidays and renovations.

Council’s Caloundra Regional Gallery will close on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Residents are encouraged to check the gallery website or social media for current exhibitions and opening hours over the Easter long weekend.

Altitude Nine, Venue 114 and community spaces will close from Good Friday, March 29 and re-open Tuesday, April 2.

Open daily from 7am-6pm, Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden at Tanawha, is a great place for an Easter picnic with family and friends. The Compass Garden Café will be closed over Easter, reopening Tuesday, 2 April, 9am – 2.30pm.

The natural jewel of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is open daily between 7am-6pm. It will be business as usual over Easter at Mountain View Café, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm and weekends 8am to 5pm.

The Rainforest Discovery Centre will close on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, otherwise opening daily over the school holidays between 9.30am-3.30pm.

Pound

The Sippy Creek Animal Pound will be closed on Good Friday and reopen on Saturday, March 30 from 9am-midday. It will be closed from Easter Sunday and re-open on Tuesday, April 2.   

Parking

A friendly reminder that our region’s parking regulations remain in place during the Easter Long Weekend for safety and turnover purposes to support local businesses. For a comprehensive guide on how to park legally please refer to Council’s website.
