Pedal power comes to Nambour Showgrounds

Girl on bikeIf the beginning of Spring has inspired you to get into our great outdoors, it’s time to dust off your bike for a cycling refresher course.

Council’s TravelSmart team is bringing the Basic Cycling Skills for Female Riders course to Nambour for the first time on Sunday September 10.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said the showground was a perfect location to safely learn the ropes again and regain your confidence on two wheels.

“Experienced trainers will take participants through all the basics from checking your bike and gear is safe, to manoeuvring and signalling appropriately,” Cr Rogerson said.

“The session includes getting reacquainted with your bike, safety requirements on and off road and how to make your gears work for you.

“They say it’s just like riding a bike so now it’s time to test that theory.”

Previous participants have said:

“Just a thank you to Council and Roger for the excellent workshop this morning. It was not only informative but very enjoyable. I look forward to another learning session in the future.”

“A big Thank-you to Shane & Kate for the Cycling Skills lesson last Sunday 15th May. They both did a wonderful job! I’m really hoping we have more of these Workshops and maybe even a progressive one that goes over a few weeks progressing from Beginners to Intermediate to Advanced Cycling skills. I’m sure the people doing this sort of workshop could then spread the word to others and encouraging more people to get on their bikes and utilise all the wonderful bike paths around the Sunshine Coast. Once again Thank-you to the Sunshine Coast Council for putting this on and I look forward to hearing about future cycling events and workshops! Please keep me on your mailing list!“

“Hi, I’m really looking forward to upgrading my Cycling skills especially on cornering! I’ll see Shane & Kate on Sunday! Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Council for organising this workshop! It will help a lot of people improve their safety on bicycles.”
