Panoramic views across the ocean, beautiful garden settings by the Mooloolaba River, photos with yachts bobbing in the background, meander along the esplanade and wharf, or stroll on the soft sand and enjoy the pandanus tree vistas – Mooloolaba has it all for a perfect wedding day.

Two hundred wedding industry experts will celebrate the launch of the Mooloolaba Wedding Strategy, with Sunshine Coast Council and Mooloolaba Chamber of Commerce hoping they can help local businesses by boosting the numbers of loved-up couples tying the knot in the region.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said the wedding strategy aimed to provide a major economic boost for Mooloolaba and would be a significant help with the revitalisation of the region.

“With the average wedding costing around $35,000, before guest accommodation and spending, this is a real opportunity for Mooloolaba businesses to benefit. The average wedding has about 100 attendees and it is hoped that with our beautiful beaches, the hinterland and so much more on offer in our region, all those guests can stay on, enjoy and support our local businesses,” Cr Connolly said.

“If you are planning a destination wedding, Mooloolaba also boasts excellent dining and numerous accommodation options for guests to choose from. It’s the perfect base for exploring everything that our Sunshine Coast has to offer.

“The Sunshine Coast is also easily accessible, being just over one hour north of Brisbane and with direct flights to the Sunshine Coast Airport from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland.”

Mooloolaba Chamber of Commerce President Graeme Juniper said the wedding strategy included the launch of the Mooloolaba Weddings magazine and was about driving the local economy and showing the world that Mooloolaba is open for business – especially wedding businesses.

“The magazine that is being launched tonight is a great showcase of what the region and local businesses have to offer couples for their special day,” Mr Juniper said.

“Mooloolaba has long been celebrated as a stunning holiday destination but we are now showcasing our region as a world-class wedding destination as well. For couples who live on the Sunshine Coast, or those who are looking for that perfect destination wedding experience, Mooloolaba has a beautiful natural landscape and our climate is great all year round.

“I encourage you to explore how Mooloolaba and our Sunshine Coast could provide the perfect setting for your unforgettable day. I know you will enjoy celebrating your wedding in our vibrant region.”
