Could public transport help you get around the Sunshine Coast this Easter? Council’s TravelSmart team want to help you find out.

Transport Portfolio Cr Rick Baberowksi said everyone in the community needed to start thinking about catching public transport as an option to achieve a cleaner, greener and less congested region.

“While public transport is provided by the State Government, council has an important role to play for residents and visitors to help keep our region moving,” Cr Baberowski said.

“If you’ve been off the buses and trains for a while and want to find out where the services and connections are, how regularly they run and where to find more information, hop on down to one of our pop-up stalls at a library near you next week.”

A member of council’s TravelSmart team will be hosting pop-up public transport information stalls at the following council libraries from March 26-29.

 Library  Day Date  Time
 Caloundra Wednesday March 28 9am to 11am
 Coolum Tuesday March 27 9am to 11am
 Maleny Thursday March 29 9am to 11am
 Maroochydore Tuesday  March 27 1pm to 3pm
 Nambour  Monday March 26 9am to 11am

If you don’t have a go card, Easter is a great opportunity to grab one of TransLink’s simpler day passes, called a go explore card* and give public transport a chance to ease the long weekend congestion.

Using the go explore card allows unlimited daily travel on all TransLink (Sunbus) services across the Sunshine Coast. For just $10 per day for adults and $5 per day for kids, you can have breakfast at Kings Beach, lunch at Mooloolaba and watch the sun set from Point Arkwright.

“Council’s Transport Levy helps us to introduce and evaluate trial initiatives, plan for the Sunshine Coast’s transport needs, and use the information gathered to advocate for appropriate service levels in our region,” Cr Baberowski said.

Did you know? You can save 30% by using a go card rather than buying a single ticket.

The library stalls are listed on Sunshine Coast Libraries ‘What’s on’ page
