The ultimate day out for pooches and their paw-rents took place at Nambour Showgrounds on October 21.

Sunshine Coast Council partnered with Social Marketing @ Griffith at Griffith University to host this unique family event.

More than 2650 people and 820 pups enjoyed the sunny weather, sampled the delicious food, shopped at the dog-friendly stalls and picked up important training tips from workshops and demonstrations.

Council was pleased to engage with so many receptive community members on topics including responsible pet ownership, koala and wildlife conservation and how Council works to protect our coastal lifestyle.

The importance of ensuring dogs have wildlife avoidance skills was a focus for the event.

The jam-packed entertainment schedule included live music, best dog tricks and a highly coveted ‘best dressed’ competition.

If you missed this innovative and informative event, more information about responsible dog ownership can be found on the Council’s website and free dog training resources can be found on Leave It, another initiative of Social Marketing @ Griffith to support our native wildlife and dog owners in South East Queensland.
