Your smart phones and electronic tablets can now give you easy access to current warnings as well as emergency contacts, evacuation centre details, road closures, and other disaster and emergency information for the Sunshine Coast region.

The Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Coordinator Alan (Fox) Rogers said knowing where to access correct and up to date information is key to making the right decision in a disaster or emergency.

"Like all regions across Australia, there is the risk of a disaster or emergency happening on the Sunshine Coast depending on the time of year, prevailing weather or circumstances such as proximity to a major highway," Fox Rogers said.

"Key information is now easily accessible on hand held mobile devices such as smart phones and electronic tablets to make it easier for both residents - and visitors to our region - to know what is happening and what to do as our summer weather unfolds.

"To access the mobile site, go to your internet browser on your mobile device and type in the URL m.scc.qld.gov.au. Then go to ‘disasters and emergencies.

"Also, as a major tourist destination, all residents can assist by reminding visitors to the Sunshine Coast region how best to stay informed."
