COVID-19 - as the situation changes the service will adjust its procedures in line with advice from Queensland Health to keep drivers, passengers and the community as safe as possible. Please keep checking this page for up to date procedures.
The following restrictions are in place to help protect the health and wellbeing of our community:
- One passenger per trip will be carried unless other passengers are members of the same family or are well known to each other. In these circumstances a joint booking should be made;
- Passengers are welcome to sit in the back seat but aren't required to do so;
- Hand sanitiser will be available and the hard interior surfaces and door handles will be wiped down before and after each trip;
- Drivers may choose to wear a mask and passengers are encouraged to do so;
- A booking will not be accepted if you are unwell or have symptoms.
Being CovidSafe is everyone’s responsibility. When using this service, we remind you to observe social distancing requirements which includes:
- stay home if you are sick
- keep 1.5 metres away from others
- wash or disinfect hands regularly
- avoid touching high use areas.

The Kenilworth Community Transport Service (KCTS) provides services to Kenilworth residents living within 6.5 km radius of the Kenilworth Post Office.
The community-run service offers pre-booked return services to Nambour, Mapleton, Maleny, Eumundi and Yandina, during daylight hours, Monday to Friday.
Supported by the Transport Levy, the Kenilworth Community Transport Service provides affordable, reliable and accessible community transport options to Kenilworth residents who have limited transport options.
Becoming a user
To access the Kenilworth Community Transport Service you need to be a Kenilworth resident living within a 6.5 km radius of the Kenilworth Post Office.
You can return your form in person at the Kenilworth Post Office or via email to KCTSKworth@gmail.com.
Once a user registration form is received, the Kenilworth Community Transport Service sub-committee will verify the user meets all necessary requirements. The user will be informed if their application has been successful.
Residents outside of the 6.5 km radius are encouraged to register their interest so that this data can be collected and reviewed to inform future service improvements.
Booking a trip
If you haven't travelled with the KCTS before, you must register with our service before you can make a booking.
To make a booking call or visit the Kenilworth Visitor Information Centre on 07 5446 0122 or at 9 Elizabeth Street, Kenilworth.
During COVID-19 times, the service will endeavour to schedule drivers three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The approved destinations are Mapleton, Nambour, Yandina, Eumundi and Maleny. Passengers may meet the car at the Kenilworth Information Centre or at their home. Please check with the Information Centre for the schedule.
Bookings must be made by 2pm the day prior to travel. Unfortunately, your booking cannot be guaranteed if insufficient notice is given.
Please have the following information handy when you call to make a booking:
- date of your trip
- your pick-up address (if not meeting at the Kenilworth Post Office)
- approximate time you will be ready to return.
Additional trips can be organised to meet the needs of the community by arrangement with the sub-committee, subject to driver availability and passenger demand. Please provide one week's notice where possible.
All passengers (including children*) must pay $8, one-way or return.
*Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult.
The Kenilworth Community Transport Service is provided by council, operated and administrated by the Kenilworth Community Transport Service sub-committee of the Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce.
