Council partners with and supports a number of community organisations to deliver a range of seniors week activities.

Seniors Week 2017 is from Saturday 18 August to Sunday 27 August.

Friday 25 August, 10 am - 11.30 am Enjoying Gardening without suffering Aches and Pains

Lissa, a registered fitness instructor, will show you easy ways to avoid back, shoulder or leg pain while enjoying your garden. You will also learn some do anywhere simple exercises to manage/eliminate any problems you experience after digging, lifting or weeding.

Sunday 27 August, from 7 am 18th APSL Amateur Fun Walk and Forum Join APSL Caloundra and celebrate Seniors Week. Explore the Golden Beach foreshore with the optional warm up starting at the Oaks Oasis and finishing at the Caloundra Power Boat Club (4Km). Enjoy breakfast on the lawn and a seated forum presentation to follow. This event is perfect for the over 50s or people with a disability and their families. Seniors Health and Wellbeing Activities

Senior's Week Library Events and Activities

Sunshine Coast Libraries provide a range of services that benefit seniors in our community.

Libraries celebrates with Online Shopping for Seniors sessions, funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services and supported by COTA Queensland and facilitated by professionals from the Smile I.T. Group. Sunshine Coast Council’s Community Planning and Development will provide free morning and afternoon tea for attendees.

Activities and events will incorporate technology themes during Seniors Week to highlight library resources and programs.

The community is also invited to join in the As I Age conversation by writing statements and thoughts about the journey of aging on two interactive modular chalk boards which will be installed at specific branches. The 2m x 2m boards will be on display during this week.
