Migrant Swim and Beach Safety Awareness Program
  • Last updated:

The Sunshine Coast (and Queensland) lifestyle is very much about life at the beach and around water based activity. Through recent engagement with our migrant community and identified as an outcome in our region's Multicultural Action Plan, Sunshine Coast Council and Nambour Community Centre has joined with Queensland Surf Lifesaving, Queensland Government and Unity Water to provide FREE learn to swim and beach safety lessons for adults from a migrant background.

These free swimming lessons will provide individuals with swimming skills and beach knowledge so that future water activities can be enjoyed in a safe manner whether at the beach, river, lake or swimming pool.

The Australian and Queensland Governments, through the Embracing 2018 Legacy Program for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, provided funding to Sunshine Coast Council and partners to deliver the Migrants Take the Plunge Program.

Unitywater has funded the Women Take the Plunge Program through their Community Sponsorship Program.
