Choose to Move while exploring the region

Joining a bushwalking group is an ideal way to discover the region's many different tracks and trails. It's the perfect way to get regular exercise outdoors, meet new people and have fun in the great outdoors.

Healthy Sunshine Coast Introduction to Bushwalking - August Series

Ideal as an introduction to bush walking for those who are new to it or for people who want to explore the region's tracks and trails with others in a more structured way. These walks are suitable for adults of all ages who have a reasonable level of fitness. Walks range in duration, distance, elevation and grading to offer variety although are set within the easy to moderate level for this program.

Passionate and dedicated members of Sunshine Coast Bushwalkers Inc partner with Healthy Sunshine Coast to run and host these low cost guided walks. Experienced guides shared their knowledge and expertise along the way and there's time set aside to rest, enjoy a snack and immerse yourself in your surroundings.

Walks suits adults of all ages (18 years & over) with reasonably level of fitness (sorry no children or dog!) Cost $5.00 per walk, cash on the day, to cover insurance. Bookings are required as capacity limits for each walk to provide the best experience on the day. Only register if you are fully committed to attending so that every place is filled as 'no shows' on the day are disappointing for this hardworking, local volunteer run club.

Choose to Move in August - 5 different Guided Bushwalks showcasing the region's natural assets

  • Sunday 1 August - Walk 1. A Summit Challenge - 8.30am-12.00pm
This popular mountain in the Yandina area has an established and upgraded bushwalking circuit trail. The climb up 100m elevation on track and stairs to the lookouts across the Maroochy River gives a new view on the Sunshine Coast area. Once again morning tea will be enjoyed with a view.
  • Sunday 8 August - Walk 2. A Seaside Hidden Gem - 8.30am-12.00pm
Today’s walk takes you along the coast to one of our smaller mountains, and at this time of year is exploding with wildflowers to see and enjoy. The bushwalk is along established trails following Stumers Creek to the Noosa National Park – Coolum Section, where there is a 70m climb to the top to enjoy 360 degree views and morning tea. This is also one of the best viewing spots for whales travelling up and down the coast so pack the binoculars also if you have them.
  • Wednesday 11 August  - Walk 3. A Ramble in the Bush - 8.30am-12.00pm
This bushwalk is only 10 minutes drive from Mooloolaba and very close to the Sippy Downs area, yet the bush brings peace and enjoyment. The 9km circuit bushwalk follows walking and fire trails though the Mooloolah National Park. This park protects valuable remnants of coastal lowland habitat – rainforest, open eucalypt woodlands, melaleuca forests, wallum banksia woodlands, scribbly gum open forests, wallum heath and sedgelands. Once again, at this time of year, the park is one of the local scientific areas for wildflowers.
  • Sunday 15 August - Walk 4. Kondalilla Challenge #2 - 8.30am-12.00pm
Today’s 10km bushwalk follows the graded track that leaves from the popular Kondallila Falls picnic area to an area called Flat Rock where we will enjoy morning tea whilst at the rock pool. This bushwalk is one of the more popular walking paths in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, and explores rainforest, palm forests with all its wildlife.
  • Sunday 22 August - Walk 5. Obi Obi Valley 8.30am-12.00pm
The final bushwalk for the 2021 Healthy Sunshine Coast series takes walkers to a little known lookout with stunning views looking west. This bushwalk is following a graded fire trail from near Flaxton, out to the destination with the track having undulating ups and downs along the way.  We will enjoy morning tea whilst taking in the vista of the valley before returning back to our start point.
