The Sunshine Coast Social Strategy 2015 outlines council’s priorities in building a stronger community. One of the Strategy’s four aims is to ensure the Sunshine Coast maintains its ranking as the healthiest region in Queensland.
National Heart Week is a week-long campaign commencing on the first week in May. As an initiative of the Heart Foundation, Heart Week provides an opportunity to shine a spotlight on heart disease and to help improve the heart health of all Australians.
Heart Week 2017 expo was held at Village Park, Birtinya on Saturday 29 April. The day showcased everything in relation to heart health and health and wellbeing. View the event video.
Heart Week 2018
This year Heart Week is between 29 April and 5 May and this year's theme is all about physical activity and heart health. For all the opportunities to improve your heart health and participate in Heart Week 2018 download the brochure or view some of the highlights below.
Stockland Heart Foundation Walk and Morning Tea
When: Sunday 29 April, at 9 am
Where: Stockland Oceanside Car park, corner of Lake Kawana and Birtinya Boulevards
Come along and join in a flat walk with the Sunshine Coast Heart Foundation walkers from various groups across the coast. Walk around the new hospital precinct and the beautiful surrounds of Lake Kawana. Following the walk, relax and socialise with a free morning tea and health check. The walk is followed by a free morning tea and health checks including exercise stretches for heart health by an Exercise Physiologist.

Travelsmart Sunday Social Ride

Come and join the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Team for a morning of traditional Indigenous games and yarning circle. Hear from guest speakers on heart
health. Bring your hat and water bottle.
