Council's funding application to the Queensland State Government's Get Out Get Active program was successful and received $39,625 to conduct an $80,000 program aimed at increasing the activity levels of women and girls.
Research shows that women are less likely to participate in physical activity due to barriers in daily life such as cost, childcare, safety or suitable activities available. This program will aim to improve opportunities for women and girls in our community by understanding the barriers, motivations and triggers women face so they can take part in an activity and feel the amazing health and social benefits of physical exercise.
This program will be aimed at women and girls currently not getting enough physical exercise, so if you haven’t exercised in a while or ever, there will be an activity for you. You don’t need to be fit as a fiddle or have a wardrobe of active wear to participate.

Enjoy the health and relaxation benefits of yoga at one of the outdoor picturesque locations on the Sunshine Coast. All classes are free and at beginner level by qualified instructors. Don't forget your yoga mat and water bottle. Bookings are essential, all classes are free.

Outdoor Group Fitness
Build strength and endurance, feel energised and de-stressed. These outdoor group fitness sessions are for women and girls of all abilities and shapes and sizes. Sessions offer a variety of benefits including a social and fun environment while approving fitness and ability. All classes are free and run for 45 minutes to an hour.
This program runs for 20 weeks, from 13 November 2017 through to 12 April 2018.
If it is raining Happy Valley group fitness will be held at the Kings Beach Amphitheater stage area. Nambour Showgrounds has plenty of undercover areas to do training in wet weather.

My name is Tralee and I am the owner and trainer for GET HITT Sunshine Coast. I am a mum to my beautiful son William and my fur baby dude who is a labradoodle. I have been on my own weight loss journey for three years and I have a passion for helping others and sharing my knowledge. I am certified in Boxing, Kettlebells, Metafit, Metapower, Fatburn Extreme and hold a level 1 in Nutrition.
I run a successful outdoor boot camp with over 60 registered clients who are all on different fitness levels. I love making my workouts fun and involved and I take pride in my clients goals. I would love to help you get active and focused regardless of your journey and fitness level. When it comes to improving your health and fitness, everyone has their own starting point and I would love to be apart of finding this. I look forward to welcoming you to a session. Andy from Independence Movement
Andy Quick is passionate about about practical fitness. With a Cert IV in Fitness, a Degree in Sports Studies and Psychology and experience in Calisthenics he brings his knowledge of functional and bodyweight training to bear with his background in personal development to help you to get the results you want.
By focusing on what you want to be fit for, whether it's playing with the kids, moving without pain or training for your next adventure Andy can help you reach your goals by developing the kind of strength, movement and fitness you need.
Join in one of the free classes designed especially for mums. All classes are beginner level with experienced trainers. Enjoy the social benefits of exercising with other mums.
- To be eligible for mums and bubs classes you must have a child between the ages of 0 and 5 years (before school age).
- It is recommended to consult with your doctor prior to embarking on a new physical fitness program following your pregnancy.
Creche is also provided free of charge for these classes.
Creche is not a formal type of childcare like daycare. Creche care requires the parent to remain in the vicinity and nearby where the child is being looked after. Creche staff are blue card certified and experienced in looking after children. Creche staff may not be formally qualified in childcare. Mums will be required to sign their child in and out and agree with the creche terms and conditions.

Dancing is a perfect, low impact, fun and effective way to help you stay fit and healthy. Dancing also helps with coordination, balance, flexibility and strength, all whil having a great time!
Why not come and try a new type of dance and experience the fun. Join in one of the four dance types on offer over 20 weeks.
Each dance type will run for 5 consecutive weeks (except for Easter Saturday and 9 June 2018).

All classes in the dance program will be at beginner level, for all levels of fitness and are free.

The basic steps of West African dance are introduced and there will also be a focus on working with a rhythm and choreography. The first thing that will be introduced in a West African dance class will be the drum. This instrument traditionally leads, accompanies and calls all of the dancing feet. Dancers will be introduced to this call and will learn to respond to a call rather than counting whilst dancing.
Due to the popularity of African dancing in week 6 to 10, a second round of African dancing will be offered. Women and girls that missed out on the first session will be considered first for these classes.

|Saturday 19 May to Saturday 23 June 2018 - no session 9 June 2018||10 - 11 am||Samba Dancing||Join Sasha who is a passionate Brazilian culture lover and who over the last 10 years has dedicated her life to travelling and studying in Brazil. Originally focusing on Samba No Pe, Brazilian Zouk and Samba de Gafieira, and training extensively in Rio de Janeiro under world famous masters, Sasha's eyes were BLOWN open when she lived in Pernambuco and trained in Frevo, Maracatu, Ciranda and Coco! Here she gained insight into the depths of the history of Brazilian dance, and how crosses over and entangles itself with other dance styles, many of which she now integrates into her Samba to create her very unique style.
Her passion is performing to live music, educating her students on the roots of Samba and how to find their own unique way of expressing dance.
In 2017 Sasha was crowned first place at the very first International Samba Queen competition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sasha has recently returned from Salvador, Bahia where she participated in a month full time (Yes 9-5pm everyday!) summer course, furthering her studies of Afro Brazilian dance.
She is also the proud of mum of 2 beautiful Aussie-Brazilian boys, who now share her love of Brazilian music and dance too!

Guided Bush Walking
Sunshine Coast Bushwalkers are hosting a number of introductory bush walks for women of all ages across the coast. Ever wanted know where to bush walk on the coast want to join a good group of experienced walkers as they guide in some of the best walks the coast has to offer then this is the program for you.
Learn to Mountain Bike
Come join Women on Wheels (WoW) and Go Girl for some introductory bike riding aimed to get you off road for the first time. If you want to learn to ride better on or off road this program will take you through a staged number of rides to build skills and confidence culminating in a beginners off road mountain bike ride.
So come join WoW and Go Girl and get back on a bike with a supportive group of riding women!
An 8 week program for girls and young women between 14 and 18 years. Learn about self love and care, healthy lifestyle habits, healthy body image and eating habits and exercising for young women.
Dates: Starting 6 February for 8 weeks, Tuesday and Wednesdays 3.30 - 4.15 pm.
