Get Out Get Active - Activities for Inactive Women and Girls

Council has recently been advised that it's application for funding under the Queensland State Government's Get Out Get Active program has been successful.

The funding will assist council to conduct a series of 20 week fitness and outdoor recreation classes to support inactive women and girls on the Sunshine Coast.

Research shows that women are less likely to participate in physical activity due to barriers in daily life such as cost, childcare, safety or suitable activities available. This program will aim to improve opportunities for women and girls in our community by understanding the barriers, motivations and triggers women face so they can take part in an activity and feel the amazing health and social benefits of physical exercise.

This program will be aimed at inactive women and girls, so if you haven’t exercised in a while or ever, there will be an activity for you. You don’t need to be fit as a fiddle or have a wardrobe of active wear to participate.

Thank you to those who responded to our survey letting us know what activities, times and locations suited you best. Based on this feedback, we are in the process of developing an exciting free and low-cost program inviting women to be a part of the inspirational state government #JoinTheMovement campaign which will commence in November. Register your interest today.
