The Peregian Springs community requested a new area for older children to be active outdoors. Council has shortlisted four locations as suitable for a multi-purpose play space. The community was invited to have a say on these options.

A new multi-purpose play space in Peregian Springs will provide recreation opportunities for older children in the area.

Community engagement

Four locations, which vary in size and suitability for various recreation activities, have been shortlisted. These were selected following evaluations of several locations.

They are:

  • The Avenue Park, The Avenue (District Park)
  • Coolum Ridges Sports Complex, Ridgeview Drive – adjacent to the Ridges Sports Complex car park (District Sports Ground)
  • Nottingham Lane Park, Longwood Drive (Local Park)
  • Brindabella Avenue Park, Brindabella Avenue (Local Park)

Where to from here

The feedback provided during this consultation process will be used to help further assess each site and identify the community’s preferred location for these play activities.

Planning and design of the active play space will be progressed subject to community support and funding availability.

Council aims to develop a play space that offers many recreation opportunities and meets as many of the community’s needs as possible.

Each of the four possible locations is suitable for different activities. Potential activities include:

  • multi-purpose courts
  • rebound wall
  • active play
  • integrated skate element
  • climbing
  • hoop sports
  • exercise bars and parkour.

Council has also proposed seating and shade trees for each area.
