The Bunker Spoken Grand Final returns in 2020 in our first live event since taking shelter in the online format!

The 10 Spoken Word finalists have progressed from the heats and will compete in the grand final. The final features stronger competition than ever before, with local poets performing live and interstate competitors projected live on screen. Joined by the multi-award winning Hollie McNish as our feature poet beaming in from Scotland, we’re set to kick off our return to local venues in true Bunker style and can’t wait for you to join!

Bunker Spoken Word winner will be awarded the $500 cash prize courtesy of our longstanding partners, the Imperial Hotel Eumundi and University of the Sunshine Coast.

Hollie McNish: is a poet based between Cambridge and Glasgow. She has published three poetry collections: Papers, Cherry Pie and Plum, and one poetic memoir on politics and parenthood, Nobody Told Me, of which the Scotsman suggested “The world needs this book” and for which she won the Ted Hughes Award. In 2017 Nobody Told Me was translated into German, French and Spanish and released in the USA. In 2016 she co-wrote a play Offside with Sabrina Mahfouz, relating the two hundred year history of UK women’s football.
