These cast iron reduction gears once turned the cane crushing rollers at Nambour's Moreton Central Sugar Mill, which closed in 2003. Saved from the cutter's torch and foundry furnace, these iconic forms serve as a reminder of this region's once huge and successful sugar industry. Artist Michael Foley has created a sculpture to stir the imagination of new generations and to deliver that priceless benefit of knowing our past. Located at Nambour District Skate Park, Matthew Street Nambour.
