The Beerburrum Totems sculpture has recently undergone a transformation. The sculpture comprising of three brushed and rendered vertical columns has been painted and polished. The feature tiles depicting brightly coloured relief images of flora and fauna characteristic of the Beerburrum district, now sparkle and truly reflect the heritage of the region.
Historical photographs depicting explorer Matthew Flinders and the original map describing his explorations of Moreton Bay and the Glasshouse Mountains have been transferred onto ceramic tiles through the process of photo screen-printing and form part of the decorative imagery.
The new renovation brings a change of colour to make the work contrast in the landscape, enhancing its wayfinding capacity for students and visitors alike.
