Calling for artists or collectives to take part in Place2Play as a part of Place2. Place2 is a creative placemaking project in Caloundra.
Place2Play will enliven the streets and laneways of Caloundra through playful participatory activations that inspire curiosity, connection and new narratives.
Place2Play invites artists working across any practice with an interest in place and working with communities and businesses. Place could relate to geographic, social, cultural, environmental or personal experiences. We are seeking contemporary thought-provoking artists whose practice explores interaction and site-specific activation.
Artists will be required to take part in:
- a flexible three-month place-based developmental process to shape their project.
- and attend three collaborative mentoring sessions between October and January 2020. The workshops are with international leaders in creative placemaking practitioners Ryan Reynolds from Gap Filler and Jason Maling from Field Theory.
- Artists will deliver their projects between February and May 2020.
Final works will be low impact and temporary in nature. Delivered in urban street locations, shopfronts and unexpected spaces in Caloundra.
Artists and collectives from all visual, performing, sound, film or interactive arts practices are encouraged to apply. For example, projection artwork, interactive soundscapes, interactive performances. Up to 5 artists will be selected as part of the Place2 project with a project fee of up to $7,500 available to cover all materials, planning and delivery. Support will be provided for permits, logistics and marketing.
Expressions of interest will be assessed considering the quality and experience of the artist or collective, suitability of their practice to the project and project fit.
