Council is committed to enabling access to the Art Collection through a vibrant presentation of selected artworks on the walls of public and civic buildings, external loans and touring exhibitions, curated exhibitions, outreach opportunities and an online Art Collections database.

The Art Collection is currently on display in key locations across the region, including the public foyers of council's administration buildings, libraries, venues and community halls.

The Art Collection is also showcased at times in part through themed exhibitions at the Caloundra Regional Gallery. See information below for details of current Art Collection exhibitions and displays.

At times, artworks are also loaned externally for specific exhibitions and displays to promote the Art Collection and the Sunshine Coast beyond the region. Council provides and seeks opportunities for effective Collection partnerships with other galleries, museums or groups. For more information, please contact the Collections Curator.

Re-View: Selected works from the Sunshine Coast Art Collection

26 April - 18 June 2017

Caloundra Regional Gallery

Re-View: Selected works from the Sunshine Coast Art Collection surveys artworks acquired through the first eleven years of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize alongside other significant acquisitions, including generous donations by artists including Lawrence Daws and Roland Nancarrow.

Re-View provides a timely opportunity to reflect on the first eleven years of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize and its contribution to the development of the Sunshine Coast Art Collection. Each year, the winning work from the Prize is acquired for the collection and previous winners Tony Albert, Michael Cook, David Fairbairn and Scott Redford have subsequently made donations of additional artworks to the collection through the Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program. As a consequence, the Art Collection now boasts in-depth holdings of each of these significant artists' work.

Re-View also reveals emerging collection strengths, such as Indigenous photo-media, with major series by both Tony Albert and Michael Cook on display. Works by Michael Cook, Peter Hudson, Lawrence Daws and Johanna DeMaine highlight the prominence of Sunshine Coast-based artists in the collection.

The exhibition includes artworks by Tony Albert, Celeste Chandler, Michael Cook, Lawrence Daws, Johanna DeMaine, David Fairbairn, Robert Fenton, Miles Hall, Peter Hudson, Margaret Loy Pula, Matthew de Moiser, Roland Nancarrow, Shane Pickett and Scott Redford.

Curated by Hamish Sawyer and Lynda Griffin.
