TLPI 03/2013 - Maroochy Plan 2000 (Sunshine-Coast-Airport)

Adopted temporary local planning instrument overriding Maroochy Plan 2000.

On 12 November 2013, council adopted a temporary local planning instrument overriding Maroochy Plan 2000 in accordance with Section 117 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009. The Maroochy Plan 2000 is now superseded by the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014. The temporary local planning instrument is:

The purpose and general effect of the temporary local planning instrument is to facilitate the establishment of airport associated land uses at the Sunshine Coast Airport by introducing a definition, table of assessment and code for “air services”.

“Air services” is defined as premises used for:

  • the arrival and departure of aircraft
  • the housing, servicing, maintenance and repair of aircraft
  • the assembly and dispersal of passengers and/or goods on or from an aircraft
  • any ancillary activities directly serving the needs of passengers and visitors to the use
  • associated training and education facilities.

The use and associated operational works will be self-assessable if on land associated with the Sunshine Coast Airport, as defined on the map attached to the instrument, and not otherwise exempt.

Commencement of the temporary local planning instrument

A temporary local planning instrument may suspend or otherwise affect the operation of a planning scheme for up to 1 year.

The temporary local planning instrument comes into effect on 15 November 2013 and will cease to have effect on 15 November 2014.

Council will not distribute printed copies of the temporary local planning instrument.

A copy of the temporary local planning instrument is also available for inspection or purchase from council’s customer service centre.
