Sunshine Coast's future transport infrastructure projects
Council has regular contact with relevant state departments and units relating to transport and its integration with land use. The purpose is to build a closer working relationship with the Queensland Government—the provider of most transport services and major infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast. Council also advocates for and provides feedback on future transport infrastructure projects that are vital to the Sunshine Coast.
Landsborough to Nambour Corridor Study
The Queensland State Government Landsborough to Nambour Rail Project involves construction of a dual-track railway along an improved route between Landsborough and Nambour. A new rail corridor has been identified and preserved.
CoastConnect
CoastConnect is the Queensland State Government’s public transport project to improve bus services between Caloundra and Maroochydore.
Bruce Highway Upgrade
An upgrade project is underway for Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges and a planning study to determine future upgrade between section from the Sunshine Motorway to Maroochydore Road.
Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade (B2N)
The Queensland State Government has commenced the delivery of Stage 1 of the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail upgrade (B2N) involving the duplication and realignment of the existing rail and other associated works. Early works are underway and the award of the design and construction contract expected by end of 2022.
