Council has regular contact with relevant state departments and units relating to transport and its integration with land use. The purpose is to build a closer working relationship with the Queensland Government—the provider of most transport services and major infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast. Council also provides feedback on future transport infrastructure projects that are vital to the Sunshine Coast.
Bruce Highway Upgrade
The Bruce Highway Upgrade includes two projects: - Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway involves upgrading the Bruce Highway to six lanes between Caloundra road and the Sunshine Motorway, western service road and improved interchange arrangements. Expected completion is 2020. - Maroochydore Road and Mons Road Interchanges involves interchange reconfiguration and upgrade with service roads east and west of the Bruce Highway between Maroochydore Road and Mons Road. Expected completion is late 2022.
