    The new works will transform Turner Park into a destination playground in the hinterland district.  The existing playground’s timber and metal elements in the ground are deteriorating and will be upgraded.  The new playground will feature multi-level towers and slides, toddler play experience, all abilities carousel, flying fox, spinner, rocker elements and a new double bay swing with a pod seat will also be installed.

    As part of Sunshine Coast Council’s commitment to water sensitive urban design (WSUD) initiatives, work will soon begin on the installation of a new stormwater gross pollutant trap (GPT).
    WSUD is a planning and design approach which supports healthy ecosystems through the smart management of water.
    The GPT will be installed next to the rugby union club on Arthur Street, Caloundra.  The GPT will assist with the capture of litter and sediments from a 45 hectare stormwater catchment area.
    This is one of many projects funded through council’s $370 million Capital Works Program for this financial year.

    Council will be providing an upgrade to 717 metres of Diamond Valley Road.
    The works include widening of the existing road shoulders, retaining walls, re-surfacing and improvements to the existing pavement and upgrades to culvert drainage systems.
    This asset renewal has been funded through council’s Transportation Capital Works as part of the Sealed Road Network sub- program and the total cost is $1.4 million.

    Sunshine Coast Council is committed to providing improvements to foreshore protection across the region and preserving our highly valued beaches. As a result of this Council has begun preparation for works opposite Leichardt Street to upgrade the degraded geobag groyne to a placed rock structure. This will enable better sand retention for this section of foreshore and a significantly longer asset lifespan.
    Groynes assist Council in maintaining erosion on beaches by interrupting sediment transport processes. Coupled with the current dredging, carried out yearly, it’s possible to deliver more resilent beaches by installing structures such as these.

    Council is pleased to announce construction is about to commence on an upgrade to the Maroochy River Foreshore near Cod Hole boat ramp.
    The foreshore upgrade will stretch from the eastern part of Cod Hole Park to the public amenities building at the boat ramp Bradman Avenue, Maroochydore. A portion of the project is supported by the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.

    Council is pleased to announce construction is about to commence on an upgrade to the Maroochy River Foreshore.  The foreshore upgrade will stretch from the Chambers Island footbridge to the Maroochy Canal.  The project is supported by the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.

  • Mountain Creek Bundilla Boulevard Road Widening Road widening

    Work will soon start on Bundilla Boulevard between Woorilla Crescent and Karawatha Drive to widen the road on the north bound traffic lane.  Work also includes upgrading of road drainage pits, sections of concrete footpath and pram ramps, bus stop facilities and full road resurfacing.  Line marking will be changed to facilitate the cycle lane and existing traffic lanes.
