Council adopted the Sunshine Coast Youth Action Plan 2018-2021 at is Ordinary Meeting on 22 March 2018. The Youth Action Plan aims to improve our connection with young people through improved communication and opportunities for involvement in community and civic activities.
The plan focuses on three priority areas. The three priority areas are:
1. Enhanced Communication
Develop ways to enhance conversations. Improve the flow of information between council and our young people.
2. Inclusive and Interesting Experiences
Provide opportunities for young people to experience all aspects of community life. Enable the learning of new skills. Allow them to make meaningful contributions to their lives and their community.
3. Having a Say
Identify and establish ways for young people to have a say in decisions that impact them.
The Sunshine Coast Youth Action Plan 2018-2021 has been informed by the findings from extensive consultation with young people, consultation with the youth and community services and local, national and international research on the needs, experiences and interests of young people 12-24 years old. The preparation of the action plan was also undertaken in collaboration with the young people from council’s Speak Up Engage program.
Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges that the Sunshine Coast Youth Action Plan 2018-2021 is the result of the contribution of 850 young people from all walks of life.
