Imagine practicing yoga within a naturally beautiful tranquil bushland setting.
If this sounds good to you, be sure to head to Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden for your fill of namaste on Saturdays from 7-8am starting November 5. The free program will run for 10 weeks in the Sculpture Garden with a break over Christmas and no sessions on December 24 and 31.
Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Sunshine Coast Council was excited to add the free yoga sessions to the growing list of health and wellbeing programs on offer as part of their new Healthy Sunshine Coast initiative.
“With the beautiful sense of peace and tranquillity you experience nestled away amongst the stunning natural bushland backdrop of Maroochy Botanic Garden, I could not think of a more suitable healthy activity to enjoy while there, than yoga,” Cr McKay said.
“Council’s new Healthy Sunshine Coast program has received extremely positive feedback and high participation numbers since we launched it in September.
“The purpose of the initiative was to develop partnerships and programs which assist in making the community more physically active and leading to healthier lifestyles.
“All classes are free and delivered by accredited trainers in a range of locations across the Coast.
“The addition of the 10 free yoga sessions, with instructor Eleisha Gleeson, at our beloved Maroochy Botanic Garden complements the current program perfectly.
“Coming in December we will also be having free yoga at Moffat Beach Park.”
No registration is required for the yoga sessions. Simply arrive 10 minutes early and meet your instructor to complete a quick health screening form and advise of any injuries prior to starting. Don't forget your water bottle and mat.
