Sunshine Coast Libraries is about to introduce a new mobile library timetable.

The changes from July 2 have been based on an analysis of usage patterns and growth within the region and will only affect Mobi 2 services.

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said the new timetable would provide a more flexible, targeted service that met community demand for Mobi 2.

“Council works with the community everyday to ensure we continue to provide great services,” said Cr McKay.

“The Sunshine Coast continues to grow and to ensure everyone in the community has access to a library, council undertook a review of our mobile library service.

“Research revealed some mobile library stops were under-utilised with as little as zero to four regular customers visiting those locations.

“As a result of the review, three new stops will be introduced – at Brightwater, Parklakes in Bli Bli and Meridan Plains – whilst some stops will undergo day and/or time changes to increase customer convenience.”

The new timetable ensures more equitable access to library services across the region.

Where stops have been cancelled, there are other library services available within close proximity.

For customers unable to access alternative libraries, there are also other ways to access library services.

Library staff are happy to discuss alternative options with customers affected by these changes.

These may include the Home Library service or Council Link service.
