Mayor, Bob Abbot will be a guest speaker at a workshop titled What’s in the box/bag? this Friday 9 May at 2pm, held at the Noosa Library.
The workshops are hosted by SunCoast Cooloola Outreach Prevention and Education (SCOPE), promoting the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month.
Mayor Abbot said this is a very important community invitation to those who need help or are experiencing the affects of domestic and family violence.
“These workshops have been structured to help those at risk, from perpetrators to anyone directly or indirectly affected by domestic violence within our community,” Mayor Abbot said.
What’s in the box/bag? is a major event consisting of travelling installation artwork and is a series of workshops being conducted throughout the region in the month of May. The artwork will consist of two giant 2m x 1m wire framed artwork – (one tool box and on handbag). Workshop participants will be invited to contribute to the overall project by working with craft materials to cover the box or bag frames.
SCOPE was established to reduce the occurrence of domestic and family violence throughout the region. The organisation hosts and participates in events across the region highlighting and raising awareness of issues surrounding domestic and family violence.
Workshops will also be held at Maroochydore Library Friday 16th May, 12 noon with Caroline Hutchinson (Mix 92.7), Gympie Library Thursday 22 May, 10am and the Caloundra Library (Felicity Park) Friday 30 May, 1.00pm with guest speaker Magistrate Di Fingleton.
