Volunteers in the gallery spotlight
  • Friday 13 November 2009

Caloundra Regional Art Gallery will host its annual Volunteer Focus Day on Tuesday 17 November to thank its loyal legion of volunteers and highlight the upcoming year for volunteering at the gallery.

The seminar will begin at 11am with a presentation on art appreciation in the 21st century by local artist and teacher Margaret Turner. Other presenters will speak on a range of topics including gallery life, the gallery’s 10th anniversary celebration program in 2010, an update from Friends of the Gallery, and TreeLine, a major eco-art event planned for 2010.

Sunshine Coast Council Gallery Public Programs Officer Robert Natoli encouraged both current and prospective gallery volunteers to attend.

“We have over 60 volunteers who make a vital contribution to gallery life and this is a chance for us to say thanks to these fantastic people for their vital support,” Robert said.

“The seminar will cover a range of topics about gallery life and volunteering and highlight some of the exciting programs and events in 2010 that will be happening and which volunteers can get involved in.

“People interested in finding out more about volunteering will also have the chance to speak to other volunteers and gallery staff over a cup of tea to see if volunteering at the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery is for them.”

The Volunteer Focus Day seminar will be held at Caloundra Regional Art Gallery on Tuesday 17 November from 11am to 4 pm. Participants can attend any or all the sessions throughout the day.
