The Lights On! forum will shed light on the importance of reading with young children.
Lights On! is hosted by Sunshine Coast Council and is open for anyone with an interest in early childhood development to attend.
Ross Duncan from Sunshine Coast Libraries said that the forum is about the significant impact that reading to children in their pre-school years has on their literacy skills into the future.
"People may not be aware how important it is to read with children from a very young age," Mr Duncan said.
"We have high profile international and national experts presenting at the forum on topics concerning early literacy, families, collaborative practice and our community.
"The forum is relevant for a wide audience including families, practitioners, libraries, early childhood teachers, agencies and providers, child welfare agencies, educators and students."
The forum is funded through the Expanding Horizons family literacy grant from the State Library of Queensland.
Lights On! is on Thursday 22 September at the University of the Sunshine Coast from 9am to 4pm, tickets are $30.
