The Sunshine Coast Council Australia Day Awards provide an opportunity to publicly recognise and honour the achievements of local citizens who have made an outstanding contribution to our region.

But time is running out to make sure these people, who are our local heroes, are recognised for the difference they make to life on the Sunshine Coast.

If you know a person, community group or organisation worthy of an award; nominate them now in one of the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year, sponsored by 7 News Sunshine Coast
  • Young Citizen of the Year, sponsored by University of the Sunshine Coast
  • Senior Citizen on the Year, sponsored by Maroochy RSL
  • Community – Group or Organisation, sponsored by Sunshine Coast Daily
  • Environment, sponsored by Living Smart Sunshine Coast
  • Creative, sponsored by TAFE Queensland East Coast
  • Sport and Recreation, sponsored by Sunshine Coast Sports Federation.

Nominations close on December 9. You can nominate online and entry kits can be downloaded from council’s website or collected from customer service centres and libraries.

Award recipients will be announced at the eighth annual Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.

The event will include performances by local musicians, special guest speakers and the presentation of awards by Mayor Mark Jamieson.
