The Caloundra Regional Art Gallery will host a special seminar for budding collectors on the basics of putting together an art collection, and how to best conserve one, on Tuesday 29 September.
The free seminar runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm and is part of the gallery’s Make Your Market series and the Sunshine Coast Art Prize Public Program.
Presented by Richard McDonald of RSM Art Conservation, the seminar will cover the basics of art collection and provide tips on how to best maintain a collection.
Gallery Public Program Officer Robert Natoli said many people were interested in starting an art collection but didn’t know quite where to begin.
“You don’t need to be a millionaire or have a degree in the arts to start your own collection,” Mr Natoli said.
“This seminar will cover the basics of art collection from why people begin collections through to how to build and maintain your own collection.
“Presenter Richard McDonald of RSM Art Conservation has a wealth of experience in art conservation and will provide valuable information for collectors interested in ensuring their collection, or future collection, can be appreciated well into the future.”
Sunshine Coast Art Prize sponsor and collector Ferre de Deyne will also discuss the benefits and enjoyment of having a collection.
