The biggest seniors’ talent quest is back on the Sunshine Coast
  • Friday 15 August 2008

Following on from the growing success of the last two years, Senior Superstar is back on the Sunshine Coast in 2008. The quest welcomes all types of performers and acts to showcase the talent of our region’s seniors.

Sunshine Coast Council is keen to promote active opportunities for senior residents and will officially launch Senior Superstar on Friday 15 August at the Baptist Community Centre in Maroochydore as part of their Seniors’ Week promotions. The quest is an opportunity for seniors in the community to join in the fun as well as have the chance to perform and show off their talent in a supportive and celebratory environment.

This year the program has been expanded to include the whole region. The quest kicks-off on Wednesday 1 October (International Day of Older Persons) with the open auditions being held at Living Choice Retirement Village, Kawana Island. Successful entrants will then be invited to participate at one of four weekend heats being held at supporting RSL clubs in Caloundra, Nambour, Tewantin and Maroochydore. The grand final will take place on Sunday 16 November at Caloundra RSL.

Council is proud to continue sponsoring the event, now in its third year, with other local supporters including Living Choice Retirement Villages, Department of Communities, Sunshine Coast Daily and Sunshine FM 104.9.

Residents are encouraged to come along to the open auditions on 1 October. Participants must be 50-years-of-age or older and can enter as soloist, duos or groups. Registration forms are available from council’s Customer Service Centres and RSL Clubs in Caloundra, Maroochydore, Nambour and Tewantin, council libraries, Living Choice Retirement Village Leisure Centres (Kawana Island and Twin Waters) or on the audition day.
