The Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group will remain at stand up status overnight following the severe storms which swept through the region this evening.

Council crews are attending to trees and debris over roads, predominantly in Maroochydore and Landsborough, and will conduct a full reconnaissance of the region tomorrow.

Swiftwater rescues have been performed at Bli Bli and Buderim by Queensland Fire and Emergency officers.

Two cars and a caravan were damaged at the Landsborough Pines Caravan Park, however no injuries were reported. The affected residents have been safely accommodated for the night.

Around 13,600 Energex customers are currently without power after strong winds and fallen trees brought down powerlines.

Residents and visitors are asked to avoid travelling on our roads if at all possible and to follow the “if it’s flooded, forget it” message.

Visit council’s Disaster Hub at www.disaster.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au for road closures and all the information you need to be prepared before, during and after severe weather.
