Sunshine Coast Airport website received a record number of hits during January, with a particular focus on checking flight schedules and airport access during the turbulent weather.
Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot said that January’s heavy rain prompted a record 37,000 hits, with flight information the most popular page, followed by the media page to check updated information.
Airport General Manager Peter Pallot said the website is designed to make the Sunshine Coast Airport experience an easy and enjoyable one from beginning to end – just how travel should be.
"With the very heavy phone traffic to our offices during the bad weather, it’s clear that the community took advantage of our website as an easy and convenient way to check the status of the airport and their flights – from home, the office, and from their mobile phone devices," he said.
"We’ve built the airport’s website to provide easily accessible information in a user friendly way so travellers, visitors and our tourism partners can stay up-to-date with aircraft arrivals and departures with information being fed directly from the relevant airline into the system."
"It is great to see the site being used by so many people.
"The site is also a great way to find out information about access for special needs passengers, getting to and from the airport, dining and shopping choices and car parking options."
