Sunshine Coast Airport has completed its change over to a new checked bag screening system that will increase security and efficiency.
Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot said the recently completed upgrade was installed to meet changes in legislation requiring all major airports to security screen all bags loaded into the aircrafts hold.
“Screening itself commenced in December; however, due to the complexity of the project, the final system was completed in a number stages over a 10 month period to ensure continuity of service to customers ,” Peter Pallot said.
“The $3.2 million project incorporates state of the art security scanning technology and integrated baggage handling system that tracks each bag in the system.
“With the remainder of the terminal redevelopment due for completion in November, we will be well positioned to cater for the expected growth at Sunshine Coast Airport for some time.”
