The weather crew is being brought to the Sunshine Coast by Visit Sunshine Coast to showcase the sub-regions of the Coast and highlight the diversity of attractions from iconic Eumundi Markets to the laid-back beachside culture of Coolum.
Currently undergoing upgrades, the Eumundi Markets are an international drawcard for some 1.2 million visitors each year. Presenter James Tobin and the crew will broadcast live from 7am throughout the markets and finish with a sample of the soon to be released Eumundi Lager at the Imperial Hotel.
On Sunday, the weather will be presented at Coolum Main Beach (directly in front of the Surf Club).
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO, Simon Latchford, said it was fantastic to have Channel 7’s Sunrise putting a national spotlight on both a Hinterland village and beachside location of the Sunshine Coast.
“Eumundi is renowned for their markets and village atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to provide national coverage for sub-regions of the Coast that demonstrates our overall attractiveness and diversity of attractions to visitors,” said Latchford.
“We also wanted to showcase the Sunshine Coast’s natural beachside backyard, so James and Sunrise will be broadcasting from Coolum Beach from 7am on Sunday. It will be great to display the natural playground of early risers walking and surfing in the area to show just how attractive it is to live in and visit the Sunshine Coast.
“We urge everyone to come down on either day and support the broadcasts,” added Mr Latchford.
Mr Latchford thanked participating tourism operators, event organisers and the Eumundi and Coolum chamber and business groups for their tremendous support in supporting Weekend Sunrise’s weather crosses.
The crosses on both days will be between 7am and 10am and will also feature a special accommodation deal with Novotel Twin Waters Resort and Sebel Maroochydore.
The forecast for Saturday is 23 degrees with a possible shower and Sunday is set to be fine and 24 degrees.
This promotion follows Sunrise weather broadcasting from the Gympie Show last weekend and Today Show weather visiting the region to broadcast from Cotton Tree and Caloundra earlier in the year.
