Special new sign and slogan for Sippy Downs
  • Tuesday 17 February 2015

Established as a suburb in 1993, the home to more than 7000 residents, a number of schools and the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs today has a new fresh way of greeting people and showcasing the area.

Sunshine Coast Council Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said he was delighted to see the new welcome signs representing the Sippy Downs suburb unveiled this week.

“Four new signs have been installed at strategically chosen entry corridors into Sippy Downs at Sippy Downs Drive (one at either end), Stringybark Road and Claymore Road,” Cr Dickson said.

“The new sign features a photographic image representative of the area, kangaroos in front of the university, along with a slogan ‘The Knowledge Precinct’.

“The image and tourist slogan were selected by the community with the purpose of both welcoming people into the town while also providing a visual representation of the area.”
Sippy Downs and District Community Association President, Simon Poole said the community welcomed the new signage and slogan.

“We think these signs help establish the identity of Sippy Downs in the wider Sunshine Coast community,” Mr Poole said.

“Many people come to live in Sippy Downs because of the excellent educational opportunities, with top class schools and of course our University of the Sunshine Coast. These institutions make the area a knowledge precinct and also provide an increasingly diverse range of employment opportunities.

“We know Sippy Downs is a great place to live and work and our new signs and slogan will get that message out to the wider community and visitors to our region.”
