Sunshine Coast Lightning foundation memberships are now on sale for the club's debut season in the Suncorp Super Netball competition.
Passionate Sunshine Coast locals, entertainment fans, sports followers and netball supporters can now choose from a great range of membership packages with something to suit everyone.
Lightning CEO Danielle Smith announced details of the foundation membership model today.
“The support for Lightning has been overwhelming so in structuring our memberships, we wanted to ensure that all fans are given the best chance to attend games,” Ms Smith said.
“With a 2200-seat stadium at USC, and 5000 registered netballers in the region, we were concerned that if we sold memberships with reserved seating for the season, only a limited number of fans would have the opportunity to attend games.
“Therefore, our unique memberships will not include match tickets – instead members can choose which matches they want to attend with a 25% discount on tickets under an exclusive members’ priority booking period.”
The three membership options; Supporter, Gold and Platinum, range in value from just $50 to $500.
As well as priority access to purchase discounted tickets, all three categories provide exclusive foundation member merchandise and priority access to finals.
For supporters wanting more, the Gold and Platinum packages will bring you even closer to the team, with access to Lightning events throughout the season including a school holiday netball clinic.
“We also want to recognise the support of the region’s netball clubs, so we will reserve an allocation of tickets for them to purchase,” Ms Smith said.
The membership strategy was presented to the presidents and other representatives of the netball associations within the Sunshine Coast region at Caloundra Indoor Stadium last week.
“The representatives were very supportive of the strategy as they all want to support the Club and come to games,” Ms Smith said.
“Several spoke to me afterwards and said they supported the concept as it helped alleviate concerns that there wouldn’t be enough tickets to go around if memberships were sold as reserved seating packages.”
The launch of the club’s membership campaign coincides with the announcement of the inaugural squad’s player numbers. Australian Diamond and proud Queenslander Stephanie Wood has the honour of wearing number one.
The numbers were assigned to the athletes based on the order in which they joined Sunshine Coast Lightning.
The 10 foundation players have shown their commitment to the Club by purchasing the first 10 memberships, with their membership number the same as their player number.
Sunshine Coast’s campaign in the nation-wide tournament begins Saturday, February 18 with a blockbuster Queensland derby against the Firebirds in Brisbane.
Lightning fans won’t have to wait long until the first home game of the season at the University of the Sunshine Coast Sports Stadium, with a round two match-up against Melbourne Vixens on Sunday, February 26.
Sunshine Coast is one of three foundation clubs to join the brand new, eight-team National Netball League.
Tickets for Sunshine Coast Lightning matches will go on sale in January. For more information visit sunshinecoastlightning.com.au
