The rugby code is alive and kicking on the Sunshine Coast with local supporters and players set to tackle two exciting events over the coming days.
Sunshine Coast Council Division 3 Councillor Peter Cox said he is delighted to have the Queensland Reds hosting reigning Super Rugby champions the Waikato Chiefs in their second and final trial game of 2013 at Stockland Stadium Sunshine Coast this Friday.
“Along with this fantastic Rugby spectacle taking place here within Division 3 at our first class regional sports stadium, the next morning, Saturday 9 February junior rugby players will get to sign up with the Brothers Junior Rugby Club at their terrific new club house,” he said.
“And what a wonderful motivation these types of major sporting events provide to our local youngsters to watch their sporting heroes in action and dream of competing professionally themselves one day.
“Significantly, both Sunshine Coast Rugby Union and Queensland Rugby have recognised Stockland Stadium Sunshine Coast as a major sports event venue on the Sunshine Coast.
“I highly encourage those with children aged between five and 17 to head along on Saturday morning to sign up for the coming season and get involved in this terrific sport for a fun experience, great exercise and a wonderful opportunity to make new friends.”
Brothers Junior Rugby Club sign on day for all grades from Under 6 to Under 18 is on Saturday 9 February between 8am to10.30am at Oval 6, Quad Park, Kawana. Alternatively visit Brothers Rugby Club Sunshine Coast's website.
