Sippy Downs commuters can look forward to smoother and safer travels thanks to road rehabilitation works along University Way.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said the upgrades were part of council’s Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program.
“As part of this program, council will undertake subsoil drainage and pavement rehab works along a stretch of University Way between Scholars Drive and Albany Street,” he said.
“The existing road surface in this area has deteriorated due to heavy traffic and the effects of wet weather and these works will provide a new road pavement that’s capable of catering for the demands of this very busy area for many years.”
Works are due to commence on Monday June 30 and completion is expected within two weeks (weather permitting). Cr Dickson said detours would be in place to enable the works to be completed on time and on budget.
“Property access along this section of University Way will be affected for short durations and residents who will be affected have been notified and will be consulted further while works are in progress,” he said.
“Traffic controllers will be on site to help with parking and access for adjacent residents.
“As with any road rehab project, there will be some short term inconvenience for nearby residents and commuters however the long term outcome will be a smoother, safer and more weather resistant road surface that will benefit a very busy and growing area within the Sunshine Coast.”
