The $105,000 upgrade is the first stage of the Caloundra Library refurbishment which is expected to be completed in June.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the amenities refurbishment would meet both current standards and community expectations.
“The new amenities have been designed to ensure wheelchair accessibility and provide parents and care givers with modernised baby change facilities,” Cr Dwyer said.
“For this work to be undertaken, the current amenities will be closed from Friday March 3 and will reopen on Monday, April 10.
“Regular library services will not be interrupted during the works.
“However there will be minor noise and building works during the building period and council thanks the community for their understanding during this time.”
To ensure library customers are not severely inconvenienced, portable male and female toilets will be available in the library courtyard and wheelchair access amenities will be available in the Council Administration building, located on Omrah Avenue, opposite the library.
Access to the administration building will be during business hours only.
