Quad Park Corporation delivers sound financial management

A presentation by the Executive of Quad Park Corporation Pty Ltd to Sunshine Coast Council’s special budget meeting last week reinforced a commitment to strong financial management.

As part of the Corporation’s budget bid submission, Councillors heard how through a disciplined and rigorous approach to financial management Quad Park Corporation was able to reduce the budget ask, absorb additional running costs and deliver quality services throughout the precinct.

As Chair of the Quad Park Corporation Board and Division 3 Councillor, Keryn Jones describes the financial turnaround from three years ago as a great success story and proof that a tough decision made in the early days as Sunshine Coast Council was the right decision.

"The results shared at the budget meeting last week demonstrate a great partnership with council, management team and the facility users," Cr Jones said.

"Our Board, especially Managing Director John Kelly, along with the dedicated staff have worked hard to identify cost efficiencies and this is the third year in a row that we have reduced the budget ask from Council."

Cr Jones said she was particularly pleased that a cost reduction has been forecast in a year when Quad Park Corporation is also taking over the operation of the new grandstand and absorbing those costs, demonstrating a dramatic efficiency improvement.

The benefit of the precinct’s facilities incorporating the aquatic centre and skate park, national standard rowing lake, 12 playing fields and future grandstand in an ideal location was reinforced in discussion focussed on past achievements and future goals and objectives.

The precinct is ideally placed to expand services and diversify activities. Its proximity to the new tourism precinct at Bokarina Beach and recreational facilities, as well as the Kawana Town Centre and future hospital, offers a promising future that will attract high profile events to the region and have a positive impact on the Coast’s economy.

The precinct can accommodate more than just sporting activities – with a variety of other events also catered for.
