News in Brief
Sunshine Coast Council is encouraging people to continue to take care on local beaches eroded by recent big waves and high tides.
Many local beaches have been severely eroded, with high drop-offs in some areas.
Sunshine Coast Council Disaster Management Coordinator Graham Milliken said people are advised to avoid the affected areas.
“Some of the drop-offs on our open beaches are up to four-metres high.”
“This creates a potentially very dangerous situation. We are asking people to exercise extreme care, to heed local signage and to make sure children don’t play near any of the eroded areas.”
