Popular Bli Bli park to enjoy more improvements

Sunshine Coast Council today endorsed the revised 2013 Landscape Plan for Muller Park in Bli Bli.

Division 9 Councillor Stephen Robinson said it was important that the Landscape Plan for the popular park reflected the community’s current and future needs and aspirations now and into the future.

“Muller Park – bounded by Maroochy River, David Low Way and Muller Park Drive – is widely used by the local community and visitors for a variety of recreation pursuits, including fishing, picnics, walking and boating,” he said.

“The Muller Park Landscape Plan (endorsed by council in 2011) was created to develop the Muller Park area in close collaboration and consultation with local residents, visitors and users,” he said.

“At the time there was no interest expressed in establishing any non-motorised facilities or formal leasing arrangements.

“Since then however we have had requests from a community group to establish a rowing club facility within Muller Park.

“In response to this, in recognition of council’s Sport and Active Recreation Plan identifying the potential for non-motorised water sport to be located in this park, and with my own support as divisional councillor, we have worked through the legislative process to incorporate a suitable lease area in the revised Landscape Plan.

“Community engagement has revealed no opposition to the lease proposal.

“Following council’s endorsement of this 2013 Landscape Plan today, we will be seeking Expressions of Interest from the community for the use of the lease area early in the new year.”

If your non-motorised sporting group would like to receive an information pack early in the new year, contact council’s community planning officer on 54418401 to register your interest.
