Budding young artists are invited to join Mic Black on February 14 to create a digital mosaic tile and be part of the world’s first Pixel Mosaic – a large interactive digital art installation at council's Caloundra Regional Gallery.
Children and young people can choose from one of the following interactive workshops:
Pixel Tile Workshops: Ages 7-13
If you were to describe yourself as a sequence of colours, what would it look like? Children will have the chance to create digital art on their own phone and tablet and participate in a guided workshop exploring colour, light and self-expression between 10.30am and noon. Imagine having your tile added to the huge digital art installation featuring hundreds of young artists.
Pixel Art Workshop: Ages 12+
Join Mic Black at the Life Size Pixel Art Workshop from 12.30 and 3pm for a one of a kind art experience. Use your own laptop and create a short multi-frame animation and learn about a sub-genre of minimalism in the process. Your artwork will then be filmed and made available on the Pixel Mosaic YouTube channel.
Parents will be required to provide consent for their child's artwork to be part of Pixel Mosaic before commencing the workshop, so please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time.
Each workshop is limited to a maximum of 20 participants, so make sure you book early via council’s gallery website to avoid disappointment. Children are asked to bring their own iPhone or tablet.
While at the workshop explore the amazing Digital Disruption exhibition, on display until March 15 at Caloundra Regional Gallery, which includes the remarkable six-wheeled electric walking bubble blowing robot, absurd and whimsical machines, animations, projections and more.
Caloundra Regional Gallery is owned and operated by the Sunshine Coast Council. Located at 22 Omrah Avenue, the Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.
