Bus travelers are in for a treat this month, with the chance to win an iPad2 just by catching a bus.
The initiative is part of council’s public transport promotion campaign ‘Could public transport work for you?’ aimed at getting Coast residents and visitors to try an alternative mode of travel for one day.
Integrated Transport Portfolio Councillor Vivien Griffin said that thanks to the public transport levy, there are now more services than ever before on the Coast.
"To showcase these services and encourage people to try public transport, on 22 June, council will host its first ever, ‘On the Bus Day’," Cr Griffin said.
"To be in the running to win an iPad2, iTunes or book vouchers, simply catch any public bus on the Sunshine Coast on 22 June. Find the code word on the bus and either text to win or register on council’s website.
"We’re hoping that by encouraging people onto buses, they might find they enjoy the convenience as well as the extra time to read a book, finish some emails or listen to music—hence the prizes.
"And if they do enjoy the experience, we hope they continue to choose public transport or at least keep it in mind as an option."
Council’s website lists links to TransLink’s journey planner for trains and sunbus services as well as timetables and booking information for all Sunshine Coast public transport.
Council’s On the Bus Day competition applies to the following services
- Sunbus services
- Hinterland Connect
- Maleny-Landsborough- Beerwah
- Council Cabs
