The Sunshine Coast Council is calling for nominations from community organisations, housing sector and industry representatives and individuals who want to get involved with Council’s Housing Affordability Task Force.
Division 1 Councillor Anna Grosskreutz, who also holds the Social Strategy portfolio, and Division 9 Councillor Vivien Griffin are Council’s representatives on the task force.
Cr Grosskreutz said the task force will enable Council and its community to work with all the relevant stakeholders to address issues relating to housing affordability, including the urgent need for increased affordable housing and social housing.
“While housing affordability is the responsibility of the Federal and State Government, there is a strong need for a regional advocacy group to help address the issue on the Sunshine Coast,” Cr Grosskreutz said.
“The provision of social housing and housing affordability are extremely important issues for our region and, with that in mind, Council wants to hear from our community and industry to ensure we get the right people on the task force.
“This initiative is all about providing the best possible representation, from a broad sector, to address housing needs on the Sunshine Coast.”
The Housing Affordability Task Force will include approximately 15 people representing all levels of government, housing providers, and community and development industry representatives.
Nominations can be made online at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
