Mudjimba Beach Holiday Park has expanded by 30% following the completion of 46 new sites, which will open on December 9.

The new sites are already heavily booked for the Christmas school holidays, with the two weeks from Christmas Day to January 7 fully booked.

The expansion by Sunshine Coast Council includes 45 powered sites and one unpowered site, new internal roads, fencing and landscaping, drainage, and electrical and plumbing work.

An existing barbecue shelter was also upgraded to a modern camp kitchen with new appliances, a kitchen sink and functional seating.

Division 8 Councillor Jason OPray today inspected the new sites and officially opened the new area.

“I’m proud to open such a great addition to what I believe is one of the Sunshine Coast’s best holiday spots,” Cr OPray said.

“The popularity of this park is not surprising, as it is in an ideal location between the Mudjimba Beach and Maroochy River.

“Visitors can look forward to even more facilities in 2017, when council will replace the current amenities building.”

Park managers Darren and Tanya McSorley were delighted to offer a wide range of sites for guests.

“The new sites are large and open, and offer easy access and beautiful sunny aspects in natural surrounds,” Ms McSorley said.

“Council has impressed us with the quality of the work and the timely completion of the job.”

Park visitors George and Wendy Cooper enjoy staying at Mudjimba and are happy to see the new sites finished.

“This park is always so lovely and well-kept, and it’s a so nice to be close to the beach,” Ms Cooper said.

“It’s a great spot to escape the daily routine and relax.”

In addition to the upgrades at Mudjimba Beach Holiday Park, work is also underway to add 16 new sites to Dicky Beach Holiday Park, construct concrete annex pads at Coolum Holiday Park and a new caretakers’ undercover veranda has recently been completed at Maroochydore Beach Holiday Park. The upgrades are delivered through council’s Capital Works Program.
