Sunshine Coast Council grants of up to $50,000 are now up for grabs.
The regional grants program is now open and the 2009/10 grants handbook explains how individuals or groups can apply for council support for projects that make a difference to our community.
Major grants are available for amounts between $2,000 and $50,000, and minor grants for projects up to $2000. Individual Development grants are available for up to $500. The closing date for the next round for all these grants is 15 September.
Grants are available in the categories of:
- Community Development
- Economic Development
- Heritage and History
- Community Events
- Sport and Recreation
To help people access the grants, council is offering free grant information sessions – starting tomorrow in locations across the region.
From 24 August, applicants can book a 30-minute application clinic with a council grants officer and bring their draft application in for a one-on-one review. Application clinics are designed to help people ensure their application for funding has the best possible chance of success.
Mayor Bob Abbot said the grant program acknowledges the valuable contribution that volunteers, individuals and community organisations make to improve our quality of life on the Coast.
“There has already been a lot of interest in the information sessions and we’re hoping the handbook and application clinics make it even easier for people to apply and be successful,” he said.
“Grants are offered to encourage and support groups and individuals in the community to continue to make a positive contribution to the cultural, economic, environmental and wellbeing of the coast.”
The grants handbook is available from all Customer Service Centres or by post. Call council to book your spot in an application clinic. For more information visit the ‘For Residents’ section on council’s website at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or call 5475 7272.
